Feng Shui Notes - December 2008
By Suzanne Metzger

In the past several December newsletters I’ve focused on good holiday decorating from a Feng Shui perspective. (If you wish to read about holiday Feng Shui, go to the Magical Holiday Article. This year I thought I would instead write about moving forward into the New Year.

As many of you know, Feng Shui has its roots in the I Ching, which teaches us that change is constant. As we and the people around us change, the energy and use of our spaces is also changed.

For instance, the delicate balance of yin and yang can be subtly altered and we may not even notice the shift. This is just one reason why it’s advisable to have your Feng Shui updated professionally from time to time.

Other reasons include making sure that the elemental characteristics of each occupant are still in harmony with the overall balance of elements in a building, removing predecessor and other energetic imbalances that may have been caused by illness or traumatic events—especially those related to the structural elements in the property itself. Also, many Feng Shui professionals are trained in identifying and balancing areas of high electromagnetic energy or geopathic stress.

The changes that many people are experiencing now mirror the larger changes going on in our country, especially with our economy and our standing in the world. Even if you are not personally touched by the changes, you are part of the collective economy. It’s at that level that your personal actions and the Feng Shui of your home and other spaces you occupy can make a difference globally.

Fengshuiwise, this is an especially good time for each of us to reevaluate our Wealth, Career, & Fame areas (See tips below).
Since the I Ching emphases the Career area from mid-December to mid-January, we’ll spend more time now on this area.

Career and its dominant element, Water, relate to the nourishing flow of ch’i and to fine-tuning your life path and your purpose for being alive. Water meanders. It doesn’t follow a straight path. Stops or obstacles along the way are like boulders or small dams in a river. They offer us new experiences, lessons, and time to reevaluate our direction and priorities.

On a practical level, this is an excellent time to look at each of the important areas in your life, to set goals, and to break those goals down into manageable steps. To identify what’s most important (after doing what you need to do to survive), notice what brings you the most joy and satisfaction. These are clues pointing you toward your life purpose.

Once you’ve identified what’s important, list both small and large actions you can take to accomplish your desired results. Next, (and this is key), decide when you will take those actions and write them in your calendar or another existence system. It’s best to do something large or small every few days in each area to keep the energy flowing toward completion of your goal.

Following are some Feng Shui Tips
& Affirmations for Career, Wealth, & Fame.
(The affirmations can be placed in the related area of the Bagua.
It’s best to rewrite them to make them your own.)

Career - Keep your holiday décor simple in this area. Make sure that you can move easily around and through this space. Remove any furniture that is too large for the space or that blocks movement in or out of the area.
“I follow my heart’s desire and always trust that
I am moving forward toward my greater good.”

Wealth – The same advise for Career works here as well. Also move and/or upgrade any enhancements or cures you’ve placed in this area. If you have several, simplify. In other words, more is not always better.
“I live in an abundant universe.
My inflow and outflow are always in balance”.

Fame – This area should shine now with lots of light and sparkle. Make sure that everything placed here is tasteful and reflects happiness. This would be a great spot to place a twinkling star or a replica of the Star of Bethlehem, if it fits with your holiday décor.
“People love me exactly the way I am.”
“I am known for ______ “  (list what you want to be known for)

Have a blessed holiday!
