The Career area of the bagua marks the beginning of our individual path through life. It begins with time spent in the womb and continues until our death. It especially represents the past because, for most of us, our past determines our future, how we age, and our experience of health in general. Often we’re drawn to homes and workspaces with energies comparable to those we grew up with—even though they may not look or appear to be the same. This, of course, means that we draw similar circumstances into our lives—including our health issues or those of our family. Following are three common areas of health 1. Problems with your kidneys, blood circulation, and the free movement of fluids in your body. Clogged arteries and sluggish circulation are common manifestations of this problem. The addition of moving water can be helpful. This can be either in the form of a fountain or artwork representing water freely flowing into your space. 2. Issues related to the ears--including difficulty hearing, ear infections, or issues with balance. This could also involve problems related to listening to others or your experience of others listening to you. These issues are an extension of the physical function of hearing. Not feeling heard can lead to social alienation and the feeling that you don’t “belong.” Over a period of time, most people who aren’t heard begin to feel isolated and alone. This can lead to depression or other emotional problems. If it’s compatible with your décor, try adding one or more conical seashells. They not only represent the water element, but are shaped like an ear. If depression is an issue, you may have an overabundance of water, not only the Career area, but throughout your entire space. If this is so, see if reducing the water element and adding a touch of fire helps. Also, be sure to seek appropriate medical help. 3. Chronic dehydration. Often this is easily remedied through nutritional intervention or by simply drinking more water. However, it could be related to something in your space. Look to see if there is anything preventing you from taking preventative action. An example would be oversized furniture or clutter in the area. The remedy, of course, is to remove it. Another thing to look for is an overabundance of the fire or wood element. In this case, simply adding a little metal or water could be the fix needed to balance the area. * All suggestions in this article are meant to be used in conjunction with medical advice.
