FENG SHUI NOTES - JANUARY 2010

THE YEAR OF THE METAL TIGER

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

The Chinese Lunar New Year honoring the Metal Tiger begins on February 14, 2010. Since it falls on Valentines Day, it’s considered to be especially auspicious here in the West.

The Tiger is the third and one of the most dynamic signs in the 12 animal Chinese zodiac. It corresponds to the Western sign of Sagittarius and is one of the twelve expressions of energy needed to heal our planet. Each sign represents a unique energy and has a distinct contribution to offer the world.

This year's tiger, which is also called the white or golden tiger, is influenced by the metal element. The nature of metal is to define and strengthen personal and the other structures we find throughout life. It also symbolizes clear thinking, precision, sincerity and truth.

Wood is actually the natural element for the Tiger. Since metal clashes with wood, our inclination this year may be to hesitate and over-think issues rather than to jump into action. This is a mistake. The Tiger and all Tiger years are about action.

The keyword for this year is CHANGE. Right from the beginning, it will be a year filled with drama both personally and in the public domain. Many of you may move to another home and/or job--and possibly even more than once.

In order to harness the positive possibilities that this year offers, it's important to allow yourself to take reasonable risks and move on if you sense that it's time--even when it feels scary. If there's something you’re really inspired to do, let your heart guide you.

If you worked hard and kept your focus in-spite of setbacks you may have experienced last year, you will now be in a good position to achieve success. It's important though to maintain your focus.

FENG SHUI TIP:  To help you maintain focus on your goals, make sure that the FAMILY area of your home and office are in balance and free from clutter. Then continue to work steadily, while allowing yourself plenty of time for play and relaxation. Make sure that you schedule and set aside time to be with your family and friends.

PREPARING FOR THE NEW YEAR
To invite luck, new opportunities and a fresh start, it’s customary to prepare for the New Year by thoroughly cleaning and airing out your home. (Note: Do this before February 14th. It’s considered bad luck to clean on the actual day.)

This is also an auspicious time to remove predecessor and other negative energies by sealing and applying other Feng Shui transcendental cures.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ADULTS & CHILDREN
BORN IN A TIGER YEAR
You’re a Tiger, if you were born in 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, or on or after February 14th this year.

Parents of tiger kittens need to be strong and stand up to their children!
Both boy and girl kittens are determined and have a competitive nature. They love a challenge, and are likely to be active and athletic. They can also be quite rebellious.

Kittens and adult Tigers alike are impatient, impulsive, and adventurous. They love action and  will avoid boredom at any cost! They can often be unpredictable and may surprise you with a sudden change of direction or interest.

They are emotionally intense, experience mood swings, and will not hesitate to speak their mind if they’re upset. Although Tigers are generally happy, they can be quick to anger. However, they are also equally quick to recover from their tantrums.

Tigers are cheerful, generous, intelligent, charismatic, and quite affectionate. They have the ability to focus on and accomplish whatever they put their mind to and they are confident in their own abilities. They love being the center of attention and usually possess a great sense of humor.

Both adults and kittens achieve the best results when they can freely express themselves.

Enjoy and flow with the changes coming this year.

May the blessings of the New Year fill your heart with joy as you develop and use the virtues of the Metal Tiger and make the most of the year ahead!
