Feng Shui, Health, & The Five Elements

Fall Greeting Everyone!

Autumn is related to the Metal element. Like metal, it can have a cutting energy, similar to the wind stripping leaves off of the trees. Want to know more about Metal? I’ll be expanding on all of the Five Elements on my Facebook page (Suzanne Metzger – Feng Shui Consultant) this month starting with Metal. So, check in from time-to-time.

Something new: I’ve added a Question & Answer section at the end of this newsletter. If you have a question or something you’d like me to write about, please send it to me and I’ll cover it in a future newsletter.

Feng Shui, Health, & The Five Elements *

Often health problems ranging from depression, anxiety, physical pain, and issues with the various body systems, including the immune system, can be traced to the layout or architectural design of your home or garden, blocked energy flow, furniture placement, or problems with individual Bagua areas. However, these problems may actually be connected to an imbalance of the Five Elements.

Either too much or too little of an element in your environment or in your personal elemental makeup** may be the problem.

Constitutionally each of us is a composite of all five elements. For most people usually one or possibly two elements dominate. Also, we may be personally low in one or more element. This can show up for us physically, mentally or emotionally and often contributes to your home’s elemental balance.

So, what are some of the health indications that you or your home

may have an elemental imbalance?

WOOD • If your body is not flexible, or you have issues with joints, bones, or connective tissue, you may need to look at the Wood element personally or in your home. Also, heart or liver problems can indicate that there is a Wood imbalance.

If you experience excessive anger or lack the ability to express anger, this is also related to Wood.

FIRE • Immune system issues & inflammation are a strong indication that the Fire element may be out of balance. Also, issues related to your heart, circulation, eyes and vision are related to Fire.

When Fire is out of balance, you may experience high levels of stress or anxiety, overly strong mood swings and even bipolar disorder.

EARTH • Weight issues (both being too fat or too thin), eating disorders, excessive craving of sweets, digestive issues, fertility problems, and difficulty with balance are all Earth problems.

Clutter issues and hoarding are also related to an Earth imbalance—although Metal is also usually involved.

Note: If weight accumulates mainly in one area of the body, check the corresponding area of the Bagua.

METAL • If Metal is out of balance, lung and breathing problems such as COPD and asthma may show up. Also rashes and skin issues. A stuffy nose or sinus issues can also indicate a Metal problem.

Obsessive Compulsive issues may be present. In my practice, I’ve also seen a correlation with autistic children—especially if one or both of their parents has a Metal imbalance.

WATER • Water relates to issues around the ears, kidneys, bladder, clogged arteries or the circulation of blood and other fluids in your body, and some balance issues.

A Water imbalance can contribute to PTSD, anxiety, depression, addictions, and fear.

Remedy – Whenever there is too much or too little of an element, the simplest way to remedy it is to either add or take away the actual element in question. This can be done with the actual element or by adding or subtracting another element that feeds or lessons it. You can also use the element’s symbol or colors.

Of course, this only skims the surface. As I mentioned earlier I’ll be expanding more on the Five Elements in Facebook throughout the month. Phone me at 719 – 260-7207 if you would like to set up an appointment with me to assess your space.
