The Family Area & New Beginnings

Every moment offers us the opportunity to choose a new beginning! Some of these moments are especially auspicious, but we’re not really limited to the New Year, the New Moon, or a new season. In reality anytime will work.
However, with spring almost here, Feng Shui shows us that we have a powerful seasonal opportunity to create something new--one which I personally love. Now is a good time to replace old, not so useful, ways of being with more beneficial qualities by utilizing the powerful energy of the Family area. The energy of the Family area is particularly strong and helpful for doing this in the early spring. Some of its root meanings are related to new beginnings, rebirth, budding trees and plants, and other qualities that signify a new generation of life.
Is there something you want to transform, change, or let go of now? Is there an area that you want to expand in your life? If so, this is an excellent time to plant seeds that will help you to step into a new future. One way is to do something that symbolizes releasing the past and affirms the new possibilities you want to create.
One suggestion is to spend some time in your Family area involved in a mind expansion process--such as meditating, mind mapping, or journaling. If that’s not possible, go to your Fame area or the Family area of an important room in your home.
Then write about what you want to generate next in your life. Be bold and ask for what you want. Think about what your life would be like if you had it. Really get into how you would feel and how would your life be different.
Next, take a fresh piece of paper and write about what you would need to let go of in order to make the changes you would like to make. Also note all of the reasons for hanging on to the old way of being and the obstacles to letting it go. (Yes, there’s usually something you will need to let go of in order to move forward.)
Then, while still in your Family area, do some kind of letting go ritual or ceremony. An easy way is to burn or destroy the paper portraying what you need to let go of while, at the same time, visualizing it vanishing from your life.
To complete the process, place the paper with what you intend to create next in your Family area—preferably in a space hidden from the view of others such as in a container or even under a sofa cushion or piece of furniture. You can also add a symbol related to the Family area, such as a fast growing live plant.
To accelerate this springtime energy, utilize another attribute of Family by initiating some sudden loud noises in this area such as beating a drum, clapping or even ringing a noisy chime once or twice a week for the next month
Enjoy this natural time of transformation as we enter spring. Let all of your spontaneous and creative urges flow during this special time for personal growth!
