THE FIRE ELEMENT . . . . ADD SOME SPARKLE TO YOUR LIFEAccording to the I Ching, the Fire element is at its strongest right now. This season encourages us to get out more, express ourselves fully, and possibly even allow ourselves to be a little more extraverted than we would normally be. It’s also a natural time to express humor, and creativity. We all know that a little fire can warm us, transform food into sumptuous meals nourishing our hearts and souls, and creating a beautiful ambiance for romance and comfort. There’s always a certain drama when the fire element is present. This helps us to put our ideas and inspirations into action. Related to the Fame area of the Bagua, it can help us to become known in our career and enhance personal path in life. The fire element also shows up in the physical and mental characteristics of people. If you are a person who has wonderful plans or ideas and aren’t able to put them into action, you may need a touch of fire to spark the flame. In a Feng Shui consultation, whenever I sense a person doesn’t personally carry much fire or needs fire in their environment, I encourage them to add it . . . . usually very gently. With too little fire, nothing happens and talented people can be overlooked. However, at the other end of the spectrum, there can be too much fire. This can produce “burnout” or cause us to tarnish our reputation. Then, we may need to remove some of the fire element or balance it with one or more of the other elements. If you feel that you’re not receiving the benefits of fire or have some issues around fame, take a look at your home and/or office--especially the Fame area. Among common enhancements you can add to the Fame area are anything from the red color spectrum, dramatic lighting, awards, artwork representing anything you wish to be known for, anything made from an animals (such as leather, feathers, wool, bone, etc.,). or something that is whimsical, busy, or bright. On the other hand, if you find that you have too much drama in your life, you may find it appropriate to remove some items that are fiery or represent Fame from your space. On days when you feel you personally need more fire (i.e. you are making a special presentation, need to make a good impression, or you just need to create more energy), add a hint of fire to your clothing, by adding more color, patterns, or textures.
