BAGUA BASICS (Part 3)

Material discussed in the last two newsletters included how to determine the Bagua of a building or lot, how to work with missing areas, and how to figure the Bagua of second floors and basements.

The Bagua is a magical tool with many uses beyond the home, individual rooms, and parcels of property. One such use is to place it on your mattress or any piece of furniture. This can be especially useful when you are unable to place enhancements or cures in the usual areas of your property. The mattress is especially important as there are several special cures used only with the bed and often placed between the mattress and box springs.

To find the Bagua areas of your bed, stand at the foot of your bed facing toward the headboard. Imagine that the bed is divided into the same grid described in Part One. Knowledge, Career, and Helpful People will be at the foot--directly in front of you. Wealth, Fame, and Relationship will be at the head of the bed. So, if an adjustment calls for placing something in your bed in the Fame area, it would go under the center third of your bed between the mattress and box springs. If you are enhancing the Family area, you will place the adjustment half way up on the left under the mattress.

The Bagua can also be used with your car, RV, or boat. The place where you enter any of these is the main mouth of chi. In an automobile that is sitting still, the mouth of ch’i begins at the driver’s door. (In most sedans it will be in Career.)

On a boat, you may be able to enter in more than one place--so align the Bagua with the area where you usually get on. If it’s really unclear as to how the Bagua of a boat should be placed, it may be more appropriate to ignore the Bagua completely and find the Center and work outward-- enhancing all areas. Or, if the boat has a cabin, use its entrance as a starting point.

Each country also has it’s own Bagua, as does each city or town. In urban Feng Shui, we measure the flow of energy from the city’s main port of entry. As transportation flow into an area changes, the main mouth of ch’i may also change. At one time it may be the major road into town. As the population expands a freeway may be built, changing the flow of energy. Also, an airport, a railway station, or an entrance from the sea may gain prominence due to (over)
changes in the economy and commerce. Often there is more than port of entry and we have to apply the Bagua as it personally relates to us.

Other uses of the Bagua include placing it on the face, hands, and the body in general--but we’ll discuss that in another newsletter.

Next month we will begin looking at the individual areas of the Bagua starting with Family.

Fortunate Blessings,
Suzanne
