Feng Shui Boosters for Your Office

Feng Shui Boosters for Your Office
Whether you work at home, in a small office, or for a large corporation, there are common things that can help to attract customers or benefit your work in other ways.

YOUR ENTRANCE – The entrance or doorway to your personal office or workspace is the main mouth of chi. In other words, this is where your main business opportunities enter. If you are unable to enter your office directly from the outside, the path to your office should be clear of obstacles. If your space permits, mark the path from the outside entrance of the building to your office with nine vibrant plants. Silk plants are okay providing they are clean and vital.

Some other things to consider: Your door should open easily. If the hinges squeak, get out the oilcan. Any issues around your door can slowdown or even keep opportunities from reaching you. If you have more than one door into your office, don’t block or create an obstacle that blocks either door. Also, make sure that you are able to see both entrances clearly either by using mirrors or your desk placement.

LIGHTING – Good lighting will not only help you to stay alert, but will enhance your overall well-being as well. If you have a dark corner in your office or workspace, place a lamp or add an overhead light.

Florescent lights and LEDs should be avoided. Even full-spectrum florescent lights vibrate at a level that is not harmonious with the human body. If, they are already installed, turn them off whenever possible, and try to use incandescent floor or desk lamps instead.

Natural daylight, of course, is preferable. Otherwise use incandescent bulbs. Your computer and other electrical gadgets emit blue light, which is harmful to our eyes and interferes with sleep. Special screens can often be purchased for your electronics from the manufacturer.

DESKS AND CHAIRS – Sit with your desk facing the door–but not directly in front of it–and with your back up against a solid wall whenever possible. You should be able to see the door from your desk.

If your back is to the door or you’re unable to see it, position one or more mirrors so that you have a view of anyone entering.

If there is a window either behind or next to your desk, hang a leaded crystal in the window.

If your desk is directly facing the door or next to it, hang a round leaded crystal between your desk and the doorway.

Your office chair should have a solid back. An open back chair leaves you unsupported and vulnerable. It can cause you to be susceptible to gossip and being “stabbed in the back.”

PLANTS – Live plants help to clear both emotional and physical energy. If you work in a space without adequate lighting rotate them between your home and office. Make sure that they are always fresh and vibrant. Life-like silk plants are also good, but do not clear the air and cleanse the space in the same way that live plants do.

If you are in an open work area with other people, place a small plant on your desk and encourage your co-workers to do the same.

If you are in a private office or cubicle, the best placement position is in the Family, Wealth or Fame area of your desk or the room.

FOUNTAINS – Fountains can be beneficial—especially in the Career or Wealth area of your home or office. However, because fountains emit high EMFs, they shouldn’t be placed within three feet of anywhere you sit or work for long periods of time.

Finally, to keep energy moving and fresh in your office, clear your desk at the end of your workday. An exception may be your “to do” list or the first item of business for the next day, if you need a visual reminder.

May productive & abundant chi fill your workday!

Q & A
Q: We just moved into a very attractive home with angles and slanted ceilings in the bedroom. In your previous newsletters, you’ve mentioned that this can be a problem. What do you advise?

A: The energy from a slanted ceiling pushes down on you in any area where you spend a lot of time, such as your bedroom. Here it can interfere with sleep and cause many health problems.

You can symbolically raise the energy that’s pressing down from the lowest parts of the ceiling by placing one or more small mirrors facing upward toward the ceiling. Another remedy is to install up-lighting in the low corners. (It doesn’t need to be turned on all of the time. Once a day is usually sufficient.

Tall plants or uplifting décor in the low corners can also symbolically help to lift the energy.
