Feng Shui & The Water Element

Although Winter is the season that Feng Shui associates with the Water element, many of us need to include more Water in our homes now–particularly Still Water. This is because Fall is a period of intense transition for many folks. As we all know, change and transition can be stressful and bring up many fears. A good dose of Still Water is calming and can help you to release fear.

Feng Shui recognizes two types of water:  dynamic and still. At different times in your life, you will need more of one type than the other. There will also be times when you will need an abundance of both.

If you wish to create more wisdom, peace, or simply have more quiet time in your life, it is appropriate to enhance your Feng Shui with Still Water. You can do this by hanging a picture of a pond or a lake. You can also place a vase filled with water and a single flower. (If you choose real water, be sure to change it often. Stagnant or dirty water can cause your life to stagnate.)

Use Dynamic Water to stimulate your career or bring traffic into your office. Consider adding a fountain or artwork showing moving water such as a waterfall or a river.

In either case, you can add either actual water or symbolic water to your décor to stimulate results.

Two other examples of water enhancements that can be used in your décor are flowing lines and the colors of black or indigo blue.

By adding pillows and other temporary fixes, you can shift the balance from Still to Dynamic as needed.

The Career Area

The Career area of the Bagua is associated with the Water element. It’s important, however, to have a balance of water and the other elements (earth, wood, fire, and metal) represented throughout your space.

The Career area represents more than your career or job. It’s about your life-purpose and your path through life. This includes every job, every hobby, and each phase of your life starting with the time you spent in the womb and continuing until your death. It includes all of the changes you may have made in your life-style and the different identities you have embraced as you moved along your path.

If you find yourself confused about your life purpose or you’re in a quandary about what you should do next, this is an important area to enhance.

Also, if you are experiencing problems with your kidneys, blood circulation, and the movement of fluids in your body or have issues with your ears, try adjusting the Career area.

May Your Journey Be Blessed With Vibrant Health!
