FAME OR FAILURE?
What does the Feng Shui of your home reveal?

The Fame area, which is the center back third of your home, holds clues to your reputation and how others view you. Whatever is in this space is contributing to your future.

When I mention the Fame area, many clients tell me that they really don’t want to be famous. It’s true that this area can influence whether you attain actual fame in your lifetime. However, what the Fame area is really about is creating an ideal future for yourself. Much of what happens to you in the future depends on your reputation and the way others view you.

This area is also related to your self-image and self-esteem. If you have low self-esteem or doubt your ability to produce results, you definitely want to pay attention to this area.

If you fear actual fame and especially you have something great that you are withholding from the world--like a book or a unique talent, you will need to build your self-esteem and your ability to receive attention in order to be successful.

How you ultimately want others to know you and how fast you want to get there will influence what you do in this area.

WHERE TO START

Carefully look at everything in your Fame area and ask yourself if each item there is in alignment with where you want to be in life.

You may have items there that are strictly for decoration. This is fine, as long as they are in harmony with what you’re trying to create.

An example of something out of harmony would be if you want to travel extensively, but everything in that space has to do with the comforts of home. You can keep those things, but you should also add a strong representation of your goal and make sure that Fame is in balance in other ways.

If this area is missing, cluttered, or the five elements are out of balance, your thinking and judgment may be impaired and it might be difficult to take appropriate action.

  • The easiest thing to remedy is clutter. Make sure the area (including cupboards and shelves) is clean and clutter-free.
  • If part of the area is missing, a simple remedy is to place a mirror on the wall adjacent to the missing piece to symbolically push it out.
  • Check to make sure each of the five elements are represented. Since this area is related to the Fire element, make sure Fire is well-represented. (See last month’s article, Summer & The Fire element to learn more about the Fire element.)

A few common enhancements for the Fame area are:

  • Candles
  • A red multifaceted leaded crystal
  • Art that represents your goals or your vision for your future
  • Lighting
  • Certificates of accomplishment or awards
  • Triangles and other angular shapes
  • Items related to your goals

As you start to make changes, you will feel more positive about your future and begin to notice more signs of success around you.

May your future be filled with Fame!

FENG SHUI IN-DEPTH SERIES
Each class covers a different aspect of Feng Shui.
You may attend any or all sessions.
Classes meet in Colorado Springs on Mondays - 7 p.m.

July 6th -  The Many Facets of Family—including aspects that affect Health & Wealth  This area represents new beginnings. It all started with our family at birth and has continued to develop over time. How we connect and relate to others has much to do not only with our family of origin, but other "families" and groups that we have connected with during our life. We will address this and other connections between the Family area and our total well-being.

July 20th  - An Overview of Feng Shui & Wealth  We will cover issues that affect our financial well-being, including missing areas, extensions, and problem floor plans-such as split-level houses, odd shaped rooms, certain land features, the lot itself, placement of the house on the lot, and the influence of neighboring structures.

Remaining classes in the Feng Shui In Depth series include:
July 27th - Light your Fire! – Feng Shui, Fame, & Success
August 3rd - Feng Shui & The Clutter Connection
August 17th - An Overview of Feng Shui & Relationships
August 24th - Children & Creativity
September 28th  – Helpful People
