Feng Shui Your Kitchen to Welcome Wealth in the New Year!

There’s an energy shift right now offering a special opportunity for us to grow and expand!

Between now and the Chinese Lunar New Year in mid-February, we’re riding on the energy of the Wood Horse—and it’s a fast gallop filled with opportunity—making this is a good time to complete projects and choose new goals for the year ahead. (I’ll write more about what to expect in the year of the Wood Sheep in February’s newsletter.)

As 2014 draws to a close, I’m feeling tremendous gratitude—not only for the blessings I’ve received, but also for the challenges that have offered me opportunities to grow! How about you?

Gratitude has been recognized by mystics for centuries as a catalyst to grow wealth and experience greater well-being. So, as 2015 begins, take time to list everything you’re grateful for—both large and small—and see what happens.

Feng Shui experts know that the kitchen and food preparation are directly related to wealth. This is true even when it’s not in the Wealth area of your home’s Bagua. Read the 9 Tips below for some of the Feng Shui principals that will help you to invite more wealth into your life.

9 Kitchen Tips to Attract Wealth

  1. Use your kitchen! Whenever I see that a client’s kitchen isn’t regularly used or learn that they don’t cook or eat meals at home, I make a point of stressing the importance, from a Feng Shui perspective, of cooking and using their kitchen. I usually recommend at least preparing soup or another nourishing meal at once a week—and, if appropriate, I’ll even offer easy recipe suggestions.
  1. Keep your kitchen clean and uncluttered. As someone who does a fair amount of cooking, I know that this isn’t always easy. However it’s worth the effort.
  • Start with your stove. Clean the burners and oven regularly.
  • If there’s clutter in the kitchen, someone in the family is probably struggling with their health.
  1. Use the oven and all of your burners. Make sure your burners all work. The burners are related to money and the oven is the wealth generator of your home.
  1. Protect Your Back! If your stove is facing a wall, place a mirror on the wall behind the stove. If that’s not possible, place a metal teapot or something with a highly reflective surface on a burner that will reflect the area behind you.

Our brains are hardwired for safety and will subconsciously experience stress if we can’t see who or what is approaching from behind. Even though you may feel positive that you know everyone who might enter from behind, you’re creating subtle stress by not honoring this important Feng Shui principle.

  1. Have some open counter space. Store appliances and other items that you don’t use daily. Having open counter space corresponds to your ability to be creative in the kitchen.
  1. Related to #5 above, if you haven’t cleaned out kitchen drawers and cabinets in awhile, begin to methodically clean out each drawer and shelf. The chi’ of your kitchen needs space to move around.

Toss duplicates, along with broken items, anything you hate using, and tools that have been replaced by better models. Pitch anything that you never use. Also, recycle excess plastic containers and glass jars unless you use them regularly.

  1. Store your knives out of sight. Having knives openly displayed on your counter, sets the stage for potential personal and family conflict.
  1. If your stove is visible from an outside entrance, hang a round leaded crystal somewhere between the door and your stove. When the stove is seen from the entrance there is potential for conflict–even violence in extreme cases.
  1. Add a healthy plant to your kitchen to increase your vitality.

In ancient times, the cook was honored and the kitchen was considered a sacred place. This is because the process of eating and nourishing yourself is directly related to health. When your health is good, you will make better decisions, feel rested, be able to work more efficiently–and ultimately attract more wealth!

May You Experience Wealth & Abundant Energy in New Year!
