The Career Area & It’s Affect on Health

Greetings Everyone!

This month I’m writing about the Career area of the Bagua and its affect on health. (Many of the same health remedies, mentioned below, can also be used for issues around your actual career and related activities–such as volunteering and hobbies.)

The Career area represents the beginning of our individual path through life beginning with the time we spent in the womb. That time had a profound affect on our health and is still affecting us.

The following common health issues may be influenced by correcting imbalances in the Career area.  All of the suggestions below should be used in conjunction with medical advice.

1. For problems with your kidneys, blood circulation, clogged arteries and to increase the free movement of fluids in your body, the addition of moving water can be helpful. This can be accomplished by adding a fountain or a fish tank or placing artwork which shows water freely flowing into your space.

2. Issues related to your ears–including difficulty hearing, ear infections, or issues with balance. For difficulty hearing, the addition of a fountain, artwork or other representations of moving water can be helpful. (Conical seashells are a wonderful cure, if they fit in with your décor. They not only portray the water element, but they’re shaped like an ear.)

Still water an excellent remedy for balance issues related to your ears. This can be in the form of a picture of a pond or a still life. A dish of water or a vase filled with flower also can work—providing you change the water regularly. This problem can also be related to clutter.

Extensions of the physical function of hearing such as if you regularly have difficulty listening and paying attention to others while they are speaking, you feel that others are not listening to you or giving you the space to express yourself, are issues that may be related to the Career area and may be corrected through adjustments to that area.

3. If depression is an issue, you may not only have an excess of the water element in the Career area, but throughout your entire home. It may also mean that constitutionally you carry an excess of the Water element. An easy way to reduce the Water element in your space is to add a touch of fire and/or reduce actual water or anything representing the Water element—including the color blue.

If you have chronic or longstanding depression,
it’s important to get appropriate medical treatment.

4. Dehydration. Often this is easily remedied through nutrition or by simply drinking more water. If you have trouble remembering to drink water, place a symbol of water in the main Knowledge area of your home.

Dehydration can also be related to the Feng Shui of your space. Check to see if you have an overabundance of Fire or Wood. In this case, simply adding a little Metal or Water could be the fix you need to bring you back into balance.

5. Your birth and the circumstances surrounding it are directly related to the Career area. Depending on the circumstances and what happened, there isn’t one answer that fits every situation. However, check to make sure that not only Water, but the other elements (Wood, Fire, Earth & Metal) are represented. Also, place an affirmation or a symbol related to finding the answer to your birth issue in your main Knowledge area.

6. Healthy aging. As we age, we follow a path from Career, through the Center, and into Fame. If there are Feng Shui issues in any of these areas, do whatever you can to clear them.

7. Chronic fatigue or feeling you just can’t move forward with projects or really participate fully in life. Depression is the first thing that comes to mind (see #3 above). Also check for clutter. since clutter is connected with stuck or stagnant energy.
