Spring for More Green

Wood energy is strongest in the spring. It’s the element attributed to the time between now and early June by the I Ching. It’s also the element for the Family and Wealth areas of the Bagua.

Woody shoots are just beginning to peak through the frozen soil here in Colorado. This takes energy–and the Wood element is all about focused energy and growth. Expansion is the nature of the universe. As spring approaches, most of us will feel the urge to expand and move forward in one or more areas of life.

In Feng Shui we distinguish our personal elements along with the elements that constitute our environment. Our personal elements determine who we are on the physical, emotional, mental, & spiritual planes.

Your personal elemental makeup is distinctive. How you experience it depends on the how much of each element you carry and how it’s channeled. There’s no ideal way that it should be. Each of us is unique. If you are particularly weak or strong in an element, it can influence the way a Feng Shui expert will balance your environment.

Generally, if your personal Wood is weak, you may lack the energy and focus needed to move powerfully forward. On the other hand, an overabundance of Wood may help to create workaholic tendencies and cause you to be overly ambitious or competitive to the point of being pushy. However, personal elements are tricky, so don’t jump to conclusions without more information.

You can harness Wood energy now with positive results. One way to do this is by adding green to your environment—especially in the Family and Wealth areas of the Bagua. A simple and appealing way to accomplish this is by adding plants

Stay tuned! Next month’s newsletter will feature more information about the Wood element
