Feng Shui, Romance & the Heart Chakra

Spring Greetings!

The Wood Element is dominant from the Spring Equinox in March to the Summer Solstice in June. Among other things, it is symbolized by trees awakening from their quiet Winter slumber and, at least here in Colorado Springs, buds are starting to appear. In my own yard, a colorful display of crocus and a few daffodils are beginning to peak through the soil.

In addition to splashes of welcome color, the Wood element is about bringing new life and new beginnings into our everyday affairs. This is a great time to review goals that you set at the beginning of the year. If they’re not happening, and are still appropriate, consciously reaffirm their importance in your life. If they are no longer relevant, set new goals. The important thing now is to follow the energy of Spring and the Wood element and begin to take action. Even one small action can move you forward toward your most cherished desires.

To assist your forward movement, place something representing Wood in a visible place in your home to remind you of your intentions.  This can be a fresh plant or an old one that you repot, something green, or artwork representing new growth.

Feng Shui., Romance & the Heart Chakra

With Spring and the appearance of warmer weather and more sunshine, our hearts seem to open more, making this the perfect time to look at the connection between Feng Shui and the Heart Chakra.

The Heart Chakra is directly related to the Relationship area of the Bagua. (Each area of the Bagua relates to a chakra–including the chakra above your head).

While the Relationship area in your home represents your primary relationship, there’s more to it than meets the eye. In Feng Shui, we always acknowledge that the entire Bagua is a unit with all parts relating to each other. The connection between the Relationship and Knowledge areas is especially important.

When clients tell me that their relationship isn’t working, I often place my attention on their main Knowledge area because the qualities of self-cultivation and self-love need to be developed before one can have a truly successful relationship.

If you look at a diagram of the Bagua, you will notice that the Relationship area and the Knowledge area are situated diagonally across from each other. And, if you’re going between one and the other, you must pass through the Center, which represents wholeness.

In order for a relationship to work, each person in the relationship must cultivate wholeness and a healthy relationship with themselves. Therefore, when your relationship with your significant other is in jeopardyor if you wish to create a new relationship–it’s useful to pause in the Center as you travel from Relationship to Knowledge and take a truthful look at yourself.

Among other things, the Center has to do with present time or “living in the NOW.”  Being in present time means being completely honest about your life circumstances and striving to be a person who is whole and complete with or without a primary relationship.

Handle problems any problems you notice in the Center—such as clutter. This will help to bring you into present time and bring clarity to all areas of your life.

Next, move on to Knowledge area. Also, remove any clutter you find here. Then spend time journaling and meditating on what you really want and need in a relationshipAND, even more importantly, what you can develop in yourself in order to have a balanced and fulfilling relationship.

While doing this, focus on your heart chakra. Say a prayer or meditate with the intention of opening your heart.

May you experience healing & balance in all of your relationships—especially the one with yourself!
